Christmas Cards & Fun Day Layout

Hello Everyone,

Christmas is on it's way even if we aren't ready for the silly season to begin. I have been making a heap of Christmas cards & getting ready to have them all written up and posted by early December.

I have three cards that I would like to share with you that I have created.
They all started out as ATC's originally.

I have heat embossed CB6081 Christmas Stars 02 and added some self adhesive pearls, I have also used CB1213 Scrap Words 15 and CB5082 Leaf Spray 02.

For this card  I have used SC007 Vintage Childen at Christmas #1 Montage Creations and the new Christmas Ornaments (CB1228)

For my final card I have used another CB6081 Christmas Stars 02 , CB6096 Ornate Frame 24 and CB1214 Scrap Words 16.

"Fun Day"

I thought I would go out of my comfort zone and work with some brighter colours.  I have used a crackle paste on the CB8001 Circles 01, and embossed some coral in gold from the new Marine Life CB4067 and words.

That is all I have to share with you today. Take care and happy Scrapping!

Harrison Showcase

I know most of the rest of the design team is showcasing Christmas projects, but I'm a little obsessed with my son Harrison at the moment so he's staring in my two projects. I hope you find him just as adorable as I do. :)

We received our professional photographs by Rachael Wilson Photography from the newborn shoot we did when Harrison was ten days old recently and I just had to create a display for them. Scrapmatts chipboard made the perfect accent pieces for this. It's strange to see him looking this small, he's grown so much in just three months!

Scrapmatts used: CB6095 Assorted Words 18; CB1129 Australian Federation Corners 07; CB6093 Ornate Frames 21; CB1209 Scrap Words 12; CB6055 Prams 01; CB5035 Hot Air Balloons 01.

Following on from the 10-day old photos of Harrison, here is one taken last week. My journaling describes some of the early challenges we faced with breastfeeding, how we're working to overcome these and how much I enjoy post feed cuddles (which is when I took this photo).

There are so many different ways you can use chipboard but sometimes all it needs is a quick coat of paint like I've done here.

Scrapmatts used: CB5106 Chevrons 01; CB8001 Circles 01; CB4055 Assorted Words 09.

December Daily Progress and some Cards

December is barely a couple of weeks away. How crazy is that! But I am happy to say my December Daily mini tag album is pretty much good to go now, only needing me to add in the December photos and journaling during the month.

Here is how it is looking now:

How cute does that owl charm look on my binder ring? It isn't really christmasy but it just looked too cool not to include!

The backs of my tags are also covered in pattered paper so I can decorate both sides.

Plus a quickie Christmas card. Nothing special and it had to be quick because there was a toddler trying to help me.

And some masculine style birthday cards for my 2 nephews turning 18 and 20 next month.

Masculine cards and layouts can be tough when you are used to doing pretty girly stuff, which is so often what I do prefer. You can go one of two ways. Clean and simple, but with the use of masculine colours. Or as I prefer, something a bit more grungy and distressed.

Of course the boy colours help and I used Kaisercraft Limelight mini pad and collectables for these nice earthy tones of green, brown and black. But making it a little rough certainly adds to the boy appeal.

The image above gives a bit of a closer look at the texture paste and ink but it is a little hard to see.

Do you prefer pretty girly cards, masculine boy cards or are you happy to jump between the two?

A bit of a white Christmas...

With Christmas less than 7 weeks away (yep - I doubled checked it!) I wanted to keep going with some Christmas creating. This time however, I went for a white Christmas with a little touch of silver but kept it slightly vintage with some gorgeous vintage images in the frames:
Using Scrapmatts chipboard Tags 03 CB3007, Ornate Frames 23 CB4066, Ornate Frames 16 CB5095 and Scrapwords 15 CB1213

The chipboard Frames on both of these tags have been heat embossed in white. This gives a fabulous strong white finish to the chipboard

How gorgeous are these Christmas ornaments?!!! You can also add a favourite photo to the middle rather than a vintage image that I have used here:
Using Scrapmatts Chipboard Christmas Ornament 08 CB6025 and Scrapwords 15 CB1213.
The Chipboard frame has been heat embossed in white and just a touch of glitter had been added to add a little sparkle as the frame catches the light. I added the white fluffy ribbon around the outside for a bit of 'Christmassy' fun :)
I have recently rediscovered the fun of mini albums. I completed a class by Frank Garcia and totally fell in love with the way he builds his albums. Chipboard is perfect to embellish your mini albums with as the chipboard sits flat on the page and you don't end up with an album that won't close due to too many bulky embellishments!
Using Scrapmatts chipboard (on the cover) Ornate Frames 23 CB4066, Scrapwords 11 CB1208, Scrapwords 03 CB1191 along with Scrapmatts Charms Frame #20 CH096 and Filigree Flower #7 CB014
The frame was coloured using a mixture of Misting Sprays in Brown, Gold and Blue for a patina effect

The 6 x 6 size of this album made it easy to embellish. Four of the pages can be covered using one piece of 12 x 12 paper. If you use a double sided paper then you can vary the pattern on your pages a lot easier (that's easier on the creative process as well as the budget!)
The internal pages have been embellished using Scrapmatts chipboard Scrapwords 05 CB1197, Clock Faces 01 CB5053, Scrapwords 11 CB1208, 3D Ornaments 04 CB5078, Scrapwords 01 CB1189, Scrap words 06 CB1198, Feathers 02 CB1222, Feathers 01 CB5116, Scrapwords 03 CB1191, Scrapwords 10 CB1207, Scrapwords 02 CB1190, Scrapwords 05 CB1197, Wrought Iron Fence 02 CB4002 and Alphabet Flags 01 CB6084

I hope you are getting some opportunities to sit down and create some Christmas goodies - have fun :)
