Stencil Fun - Lauren Tomecek

I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to find out Scrapmatts was expanding into stencils! Stencils are probably my second favourite scrapbooking item, after chipboard of course. :) They can be used in so many different ways and create so many different effects. I've used them a couple of different ways in this blog post and hope I've inspire you to pick up a few for yourself from their online shop.

First up, I created this canvas display piece. I had been saving this idea for a while now and the brick stencil was the last item I needed to make it happen. I applied texture paste through the stencil over the whole canvas, the different way the paste absorbs the mist makes for some great definition of the shapes. I then built up the scene with various chipboard pieces painted with acrylics.

Chipboard used: CB5137 Ornate Toppers 01, CB2026 Picket Fences 09, CB4058 Australian Federation Detail 03, CB5120 Windows 04, CB1146 Leaf Spray 01, CB2020 Vines 01, CB6071 Assorted Words 07.
Stencil: ST5013.

The stencils are also perfect for using to create backgrounds on cards. I whipped up this one for my husband for Valentine's Day. I used the diamonds stencil to add a subtle white gesso pattern and then misted over the paint splatters in two different colours.

Chipboard used: CB5113 Heart Frames 10, CB1199 Scrap Words 07.
Stencils: ST1002, ST5010.

This one has a wash of gesso for the background then the smaller paint splatters stencil in two colours. I love the random effect they give whilst in actual fact giving you total control of where the colour ends up.

Chipboard used: CB1121 Words 26 Best Wishes
Stencil: ST1009 Stencil Paint Drips

Don't forget that Scrapmatts is having a Design Team Call at the moment. Entries close on the 19th so you'll need to get a wriggle on but we would love to see you join the team!

'Happy Valentine's Day'

Hello dear Scrapmatts friends!

Today is a very SPECIAL day for the young (or not so young) & in love!
'Valentine's Day'!

For my husband & I it is our 24th Wedding Anniversary.....(that came around fast!)

So, of course I had to do a layout of the two of us.
I have used three of the
on this layout & also some glorious Scrapmatts chipboard

[EST 1988]

I have used the stencils to create background interest.
Using texture paste with the stencils & also some Distress ink and a blending tool.

The Retro Squares are simply stunning to work with as is the gorgeous
 heart design chipboard, below.

here are the stencils I have used for this project.

And the chipboard.....
&

I have also made a
'Valentine's Day' card

A sweet card for his 'Special' girl!

With the 'Hanging Heart' I have used Metallic Melts to add a touch of
colour & texture and with the Ornate Frame I have just smeared white acrylic paint
over the top of it, then added a few drops of glimmermist and wiped that along (just using your finger).

I have used.....
and the new
 'Leather Look'
I hope someone makes YOU feel a little
special, this Valentine's Day.
Until next time

Playing around with some of the new Scrapmatts Stencils - Crece T

Hello everyone, Today I would like to share with you a couple of cards, a tag and a set of ATCs I have created using some of the new Scrapmatts Stencils.

There are so many different stencil designs to choose from, the first item I would love to share with you is a Birthday card I created using ST1015 Cat Paws

 Happy Birthday Cat Card

I used texture paste through the stencil to get the cute run of paw prints for this card.
I also have used CB1091 Cat 03, I used Gold embossing powder to cover it.
I have also used CB6100 Words 29 for the Happy Birthday and embossed them with White powder.

Next Im sharing an under the sea themed Tag I created also using one of the new stencils..

Live Life Ocean Tag

And here are some close ups....

I have used Gesso through ST1004 Bubbles stencil.
I have also used CB3009 Tags 05 for the tag.
Ive used Marine Life 01 CB1226 for the seahorse, fish, seastars and coral and have heat embossed them.
I also used 'Live Life' from Scrapwords 22 CB1236

I used a resist technique with clear embossing powder and dylusions sprays for my next card..

Thank You

Flannel Flowers ST1019 is the stencil i used to create this card. I used an embossing ink through the stencil and then put clear embossing powder over it, heat set it then sprayed 3 dylusion sprays over the card.
The "Thank You" comes from CB6102 Assorted Words 21.
I also used 3 butterflies from CB1158 Butterflies 20 and embosed them and the thank you with black and gold embossing powder.

Finally the ATCs I created...

ST1018 Words was the stencil i used to create the following ATCs

And a close up on each...

CB5106 Chevrons was used on  the Keep Out ATC

CB5107 Arrows 01 was used on the Warning ATC

CB1072 Gears 01 and CB1078 Gears 05  were used on the Top Secret ATC

All ATCs were made using ATC10-001
