Something Old is New by Danielle Vertigan

When you come full circle it can be a beautiful thing......
Every Crafters will have had that moment when you look at your project and its just not happening.
Its not coming together...
It can be both challenging and heartbreaking!
You've spent so much time on it...
Used so much product on it...
No matter which way you turn it, its not coming together?
Then the dilemma????
WHAT DO YOU DO????
ME???? I'm a hoarder. I struggle to throw anything out when I craft.
The tiniest scrap could be something???
Couldn't it?

So I started with an Arch Window Frame 07 CB4038
Its a piece of loved but to beautiful to use!!
We all know that feeling, It has to be just right.

So I opened my bag of goodies and started to flick....
Stencil, Cardstock... What do I want?
And there it was....
This background was once a source of pain.
I had stamped through a stencil. Water Coloured it.
Layered patterned paper, Applied texture paste, Spritzed it and more water colour.
It wasn't happening.
I gesso'd over the top still not happening and finally packed it away!
Its been that way a long, long time never to be thought of again.
Today I have come full circle.....

I turned it. Layered my frame on it and immediately knew what photos I wanted!
I love that with the frames it doesn't have to be all photos, the texture from the hessian is perfect.
some circles with my tape rolls as guides. Perfect, simple and easy.

Then to layer.
I think by far my favourite pieces at the moment is anything nature inspired.
Here I've used
CB5165 Lavender 01
CB5166 Leaf Spray 15
I've kept it simple with chalk ink and I couldn't be happier with the results.

The feathers add a soft touch
Today I'm working with CB5116 Feathers 01 in White mist.
I have also chosen to leave them be, they are just perfect as they are.

Don't be afraid to layer the inks and add another dimension.

My next Share is Bright, Pink and Pretty
Plus who doesn't love string circles
CB5114 String Circles 01
Here I have inked them in white and then used a silver embossing powder.

I love the confetti look of this stencil.
Its quickly becoming a favourite....
ST1028

I've also added detail by using a White gel pen over my Colour Blast Colour Paste.

These Butterflies are Gorgeous and come with a bundle on the sheet for you to play with
CB4010 Butterflies 03
I've layered the 3 sizes and coloured them using Shimmer Pots.
They look stunning and really pop off the page.

I twist of shabby, a touch of ink, some stamping and journaling...
and I think we are there!

March inspiration with Irit

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my March inspirational Scrapmatts post.
As always (or almost always) I made one scrapbooking page and one other  smaller project, and this time it's a fancy layered tag.
So first let me show you my Wedding scrapbook page.
Those are photos from my daughter's September wedding and I decided to keep this page with a lot of white space and to use the same photo in two different sizes.

I used two chipboard piece as my sub titles- Family and Together.
I made the upper title cluster with a piece of gold painted Diamond Mesh and added the Family arrow and the fancy word Love painted in black.

The smaller photo was covered with the chipboard black painted frame.

The sticks chipboard piece was added under the larger photo and painted in gold paint.

Floral design chipboard that was painted in gold was added under the pink die cut flowers.

This layout is a perfect sample of a lot of " white space", not too much dimension and still a lot of chipboards used as my embellishments and just some die cuts added over the  photo
 Product Scrapmatts list:
Sticks 02 CB5153
Ornate Frame 21 CB6093
Floral design 05 CB1118
Scrap Words 32 CB6113
Assorted Words 23 CB6105
Assorted Words 28 CB6115
Diamond Mesh 03 CB5127

My second project for today is this  fancy Friendship tag made with DCVW stack and a lot of Scrapmatts chipboards.
All chipboards were painted with kind of a white-grey acrylic paint as I wanted to keep the details of those chipboards.
Small Smile word chipboard was added on the top of the tag and the big Friendship sentiment chipboard was added on the bottom.
The leaves and the Bird bath were covered with clear glitter paint.
I also embellished the leaves with copper pearls as the berries.

March Layouts with Christine

Good day.  Scrapmatts is one of the major sponsors and March guest designers for CSI - Colors, Inspirations and Stories challenge blog.  And now I get to share with you my take on their two current case files.

First up is Case File #225:

This is also a major case file which includes a sketch courtesy of The Nifty Pixel as pictured above.  My five evidences are: buntings, washi tape, things that fly, circles and wood.  My testimony is handwriting on the background, and I’ve stuck to the sketch using one feature photo.  Here’s how I solved the case:

Scrapmatts chipboards: Birds (CB5045), Floral Spray (CB5045), Assorted Words (CB6115)

Scrapmatts stencils: Honeycomb (ST9002-A4), Bubbles (ST5001), Halftone Circles (ST5006), Circles (ST5043)

I've painted most of the chipboards white and some with the green shade from the case.  I've applied paste, mist, and paint on varying stencils to build the base of the background.

Next up is Case File #226:

My evidences are strings, animal, plants, and transparent stuff.  I've included all the colors of the case and my testimony is my journaling which is written at the back of my layout:   It makes me happy scrapping and looking back at the moments when you're growing up to be a girly girl.  This is the first time you tried on some bubblegum lip gloss that you got from a party loot bag, and boy oh boy you loved it!

Here's my layout:

Scrapmatts Chipboards: Circle Mesh (CB5130), Assorted Words (CB6116), Cats (CB1014), Leaf Spray (CB5166), Scrap Words (CB1238)

The #look at me chipboards are given a good coat of pink glimmer mist to match the case colors, and the rest of the chipboards have been painted white.

I had fun creating these layouts and it got the seal of approval from both of my girls.  Thanks for popping in and don't forget to check out the CSI case files here.  There's amazing prizes to be won, including Scrapmatts goodies.

Cheers,

Looking Back

Hi & Welcome

Sharing with you today a really old pic of myself when I was not long due
to give birth to my first baby.

With digital camera's so readily available and with a touch of a finger you can easily delete, recapture and filter creating a beautiful pic to scrap, I wonder how many scrapbookers out there have forgotten their old memories left sitting in a box because they feel they are not worth scrapbooking.

Well I'm one of those scrapbookers that didn't have the luxury of  digital technology and the photos I did have cost a small fortune to printed and were very far and few.  This was one of the reason's I was drawn to scrapbooking, so I could turn these less that perfect pictures into something that could be admired in another form and my memories were then not packed away in a box.  I think at time so many of us get caught up in creating that perfect pic so we can create the perfect page forgetting the real memory behind it all.

So here I am, not the best pic and certainly not the perfect background, however now when I look at it I am reminded vehicles we used to own, places we have lived and not so big I was before I gave birth..lol

CIS - Challenge 226

This was one created for Kraft Plus Challenge, with the challenge being we needed to use denim on our page.

I've used these awesome Scrapmatts Chains, that have been embossed copper, they looked even better in real life.

Well that is all from me this month, I hope I've given you some Scrapmatts inspiration and we look forward to seeing your creations in the Gallery.

Until next time, bye for now
